Wanda Tima on why she started saying she was American in high school (Part 3)

Wanda Tima, media maven and founder of L’Union Suite, became popular with the American kids in high school by getting involved in track. This newfound popularity allowed her to witness from the sidelines how ill Haitians were treated by Americans. She was most surprised to discover that their was a “Haitian vs. Jamaicans” day in which both groups fought each other. Back home, she said, Caribbean people stuck together.
